Joining The Shannon ATCC |
All new controllers to VATeir will start controlling in a regional airport, thus any new controller will start in the Shannon ATCC. When you complete your mentoring on a regional airport and when you've gained sufficient experience, you will then be reccommended to transfer to one of the 3 main airports of Ireland - Dublin, Cork or Shannon.
Should you choose to remain in the Shannon ATCC and train in either Cork or Shannon, you will receive training on tower for that particular airport. Once you have gained enough experience, you will then have the opportunity to take your S3 written examination, after that you will then receive a reccommendation from your mentor to take a small practical exam on Tower. Once upgraded to S3 you can start your radar training.

| General |
Pilots intending to fly within the CTR(control zone) must have prior clearence from Tower to do so. All arrival and departure routes are strictly as instructed by Tower. Controllers have the right to refuse entry to an aircraft into the CTR if they have not filed a flightplan. A Flight Information Service (FIS) can be given to pilots flying VFR OUTSIDE the CTR from Shannon Information (EISN_I_CTR - 134.27). |
