Knock airport is the fourth largest airport in Ireland, located in County Mayo in the West of Ireland.
IFR Procedures

Arrivals

Aircraft arriving into Knock Airport will be handed over to Connaught(pronounced con-awkt) Tower from Shannon Control. Pilots can expect to be descended to FL80 by Shannon Control. When aircraft are around 30nm from the airport they will be handed off to Connaught Tower. Aircraft will then be instructed to descend to 3000ft to self-establish on the instrument approach for the active runway. Aircraft will be given the local QNH and advised of any traffic in the area.

Departures

As Knock does not have any SIDs, departing aircraft will always be cleared to the first fix in their flightplan. A valid flightplan must be sent before requesting ATC clearence. Once an aircraft has filed a flightplan, they must first request startup clearence from Tower. Aircraft will then be issued taxi instructions to the active runway. Aircraft will then be issued their IFR clearence during taxi. Once airborne, Tower will hand you off to Shannon Control.
