Dublin Airport (EIDW) (elev. 253ft AMSL) |
| Dublin Airport is the busiest airport on the island of Ireland and is located on the East coast, just outside Dublin city. Dublin's location makes it a perfect hop for European flyers, and being the nearest European capital for North American pilots makes Dublin the ideal transatlantic destination. |

Arrivals
Aircraft arriving into Dublin will be handed over to either Dublin North Control(129.17) or Dublin South Control(120.05) at FL230 from London, Manchester, Scottish or Shannon. Aircraft can expect to route to the Initial Approach Fixes (or holding fixes); TULSO or NASRI from South, ROKNA or DINIL from the North. A hold may have to be established if runway 28 is active, or traffic levels are large. On reaching FL080 / FL060, Dublin North/South will hand off the aircraft to Dublin Director (121.10). Dublin Director will vector the aircraft in and handoff to Dublin Tower (118.60) once the aircraft is established on the instrument approach. On landing, Dublin Tower will hand off aircraft to Dublin Ground (121.80) where the aircraft will be issued a stand number and taxi route. |
Departures
Aircraft departing Dublin are expected to fly a Standard Instrument Departure (SID). SID data for Dublin can be obtained from the charts below. The SID will determine what departure station you will be handed off to. South departures (BEPAN, PELIG, PESIT, OLONO) will be handed off to Dublin South once airbourne (120.05), whereas departures to the North (LIFFY, RANAR, GELKI) will be handed off to Dublin North (129.17). A valid flightplan must be sent before requesting ATC clearence. Once an aircraft has filed a flightplan, they must request IFR clearence off Delivery or Ground. In the clearence aircraft will be told what station to contact once airbourne. Once clearence has been issued, the aircraft must read back the clearence. They will then be issued a Push and Start clearence, and a taxi clearence to the runway afterwards, and then they will be handed off to Tower. Aircraft must contact the instructed departure station once airbourne. Departing aircraft do not have anything to do with Dublin Director (121.10) unless Dublin North and Dublin South are offline. |
